Loughborough University Graduate School International Scholarships

New information for 2010/11

Over 100 scholarships will be available in 2010/2011 to new self-financing full-time international students who are permanently resident in a country outside the European Union (EU).

These scholarships will be to the value of 25% of the programme tuition fee and that value will be credited to the student’s tuition fee account.

The Loughborough University Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and potential. Each scholarship will be of 1 year's duration.

Application Process for Postgraduate Taught applicants

Applicants with exceptional qualifications may be offered a scholarship with their offer of a place.

Applicants to the following Departments will AUTOMATICALLY be considered for a scholarship - provided the initial application is complete and contains all the relevant information (degree transcripts, references etc.). For these Departments there is no separate scholarship application process.

For all other Departments list below, students are invited to apply for a scholarship after an offer of a place has been made.

The application form can be downloaded below, and should be returned (by post, fax or email) to:

NOTE THAT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED UNLESS THE APPLICANT IS HOLDING AN OFFER OR A PLACE AT THE TIME OF SUBMISSION (THIS OFFER MAY BE CONDITIONAL OR UNCONDITIONAL).

PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR OFFER LETTER.

The final closing date for applications is 30th June 2010, though applicants are advised to apply as early as possible.

All those applying using the scholarship application form will be notified of the outcome of their application by email by the end June at the latest.

Any award made to an applicant holding a conditional offer will be subject to those conditions being met in full.

Selection criteria: What is outstanding academic achievement and potential?

Different Departments will have varying criteria for awarding Scholarships, however, in general we will be looking for students who have the equivalent of a UK First Class honours degree, or a very high 2:1 OR who have sufficient grades to demonstrate the potential to achieve this level. The precise grades vary from country to country, but the following is intended for general guidance:

Deferring your place

If an applicant finds it necessary to defer his or her application to the next academic year, then the scholarship award will not automatically be deferred. Applicants will need to apply again under the following year's scholarship scheme.
