Tuition Fees & Financial Support

General University funding

Loughborough University International Scholarships

Over 100 scholarships will be available in 2009/2010 to new self-financing full-time international undergraduate and postgraduate students who are permanently resident in a country outside the European Union (EU).

These scholarships will be to the value of 25% of the programme tuition fee and that value will be credited to the student’s tuition fee account.

The Loughborough University Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and potential. Each scholarship will be of 1 year's duration, renewable, dependent upon academic progress, for a maximum of two further years on the same programme.

Application Process

Undergraduate applicants

All international undergraduate applicants will automatically be considered for a Loughborough University Scholarship.

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and potential.

Normally students will be advised if they are being awarded a scholarship with their offer of a place, though in some circumstances the scholarship offer may be sent later.

Any award made to an applicant holding a conditional offer will be subject to the conditions being met in full.

There is no separate scholarship application process.

Postgraduate Taught applicants

Applicants with exceptional qualifications may be offered a scholarship with their offer of a place.

Application forms for the Loughborough University Scholarships will be distributed to all other applicants who have been offered a place for 2006 entry (conditional or unconditional). Academic high-achievers are encouraged to use this form to apply for a scholarship.

The final closing date for applications is 30th June 2006, though applicants are advised to apply as early as possible.

All those applying using the scholarship application form will be notified of the outcome of their application by email by the end June at the latest.

Any award made to an applicant holding a conditional offer will be subject to those conditions being met in full.

Postgraduate Research applicants

Funding is considered as part of all research applications. Departments will consider the sources of funding available to applicants as well as their academic merits and may offer Loughborough University scholarships where appropriate.

Applicants should make clear in their original application what their sources of funding are and whether they would wish to be considered for a Loughborough University Scholarship.

There is no separate scholarship application process.

Deferring your place

If an applicant finds it necessary to defer his or her application to the next academic year, then the scholarship award will not automatically be deferred. In this situation the applicant should contact the International Office who will confirm whether the scholarship will be available the following year.
