Research Opportunities and Higher Degrees
When you apply for a research degree you will be required to describe your proposed area of research. This should be done in the form of an initial research proposal of approximately 500 words. In the proposal, please provide an outline of your research interests, including your initial thoughts about a topic, references to previous work, the methodology and general approach you wish to take. You should also indicate how this research will make an original contribution to knowledge.
If you do not have a firm research proposal it is still important to provide as much information as possible with your application including possible topic areas and intended sources of funding.
If you have already reached an agreement with your the School about a particular topic, or are applying for a specific vacancy, then you need only provide brief details of that project on your application form.
If you require further advice on how to complete your research application please contact the named person in the area in which you wish to study.
