Introduction
This is a management degree for building design, developed in response to the growing need for integration of design and construction in the ever increasing overlap between disciplines in the construction industry which require new professionals with a broader understanding of design and construction activities. This programme prepares its graduates for a wide range of career paths in the construction industry including Design Co-ordination and Management, and Project Management in multidisciplinary Design and Build organisations or consultants firms.
The qualification offered is a BSc honours degree which may be studied on a full-time basis over three years or on a sandwich basis over four years incorporating a year of industrial training to gain a Diploma in Industrial Studies (DIS).
Accreditation
The programme is fully accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the leading professional body for managers in construction. This acceditation offers graduates who successfully complete the course full exemption from the academic requirements and a fast route to full professional qualification with the right to use the internationally recognised initials MCIOB.
