A Chartered Engineer and Loughborough graduate with BSc, MSc, MBA and PhD degrees, Allen Clegg has been associated with the University for almost 40 years. He currently holds a part-time post at Loughborough where his principal activities include support for the SMART group in research supervision and project management; and he acts as Co-Editor for the newly-launched International Journal of Sustainable Engineering. He holds research supervisory roles with the University of Damascus in Syria and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He was a Churchill Fellow in 1996 and has held visiting posts at the PSG College of Engineering in India, TU Bergakademie Frieberg in Germany and the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech). In the 1990s he was responsible for the development and introduction of ‘sustainability’ modules across the School’s portfolio of courses. In the later stages of this work he was sponsored by The Royal Academy of Engineering. He is the author of a text book entitled: ‘Precision Casting Processes’, published by Butterworth-Heinemann.
