The Times Good University Guide 2010
Comprising an AMBA-accredited executive MBA, highly popular Masters in Management aimed at non-business graduates, ESRC-recognised Doctoral programmes and a wide range of management development programmes and short courses: if you are planning a dynamic career in business, management, finance or academia, there is no better place to make a significant start.
Our students gain all the benefits of a lively and supportive learning environment, enhanced by long-standing links with industry, business and the professions.
Our rankings in the annual League Tables and the National Student Survey (NSS), as well as the excellent hiring rate and starting salary our graduates can expect, confirm the superb quality of our teaching and student support. The Business School was ranked joint 4th for Management Studies and 5th for Accounting in the 2008 NSS, further underlining its ‘top-ten’ reputation.
We are passionate about research, which underpins our teaching and provides the most relevant and up-to-date case studies for classroom learning. Indeed, 60% of our research was rated as either ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).
We run five dedicated Research Groups that focus on disciplines across the broad spectrum of business and management: Accounting, Finance and Banking; Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour; International Business and Strategy; Management Science and Information Systems; and Marketing and Retailing.
Our research activities cover these key disciplines as well as some additional specialisms, which add distinction to our research agenda.
