Normally 120 students enrol on our one-year masters programmes, which include Research Training. Vocational Training and a Conversion to Economics programme for students who have graduated in a discipline other than Economics.
Our MSc programmes offer research training in Economics with a high degree of vocational relevance and include the optional Financial Market Trading (for an additional fee) featuring simulated screen trading of financial instruments.
Our MA programmes provide generalised vocational training for occupations in banking, central banking and the financial services sectors of industry and Government. The Diploma in Economics, allows non-Economics graduates to convert their degrees to an Economics degree, which may then qualify them for entry to any of the Department’s MSc programmes.
Around 30 PhD research students are enrolled in the Department. Each is expected to give a seminar presentation of ongoing research at least once per year. The Department endeavours to give financial support for both UK and overseas conferences.
The Department has 24 academic staff with a support team of seven. Amongst our staff there are world-renowned established researchers and energetic young researchers who are at the leading edge of developments in their fields. All members of the Department are involved in our postgraduate MSc and PhD programmes.
