The School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences is an amalgamation of two independent outstanding multi-disciplinary departments: Sport and Exercise Sciences and Human Sciences.

The new School has been created to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise between nationally and internationally renowned staff for the teaching of and research into sport, exercise and health disciplines.

The School has a highly regarded record of research, which has influenced policy and practice around the world, in areas such as: human development and ageing; sleep research; work and health; eating behaviour and disorders; sports biomechanics; exercise physiology and nutrition; sport and exercise psychology; sociology of sport; physical education and pedagogy; physical activity and health; and sport management.

Knowledge gained from this research underpins the teaching and guidance offered through the School’s comprehensive range of Postgraduate Taught and Research programmes.

Combining excellence in staff with ongoing investment in buildings, teaching facilities, laboratories and equipment, the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences provides students with a stimulating, multidisciplinary environment in which to study.
