Great Location

Loughborough’s central position makes it easy to visit most places in the UK and many in Europe.

It is just 1 mile (1.5 km) from the M1 motorway and 8 miles (13 km) from East Midlands International Airport, where budget airlines provide cheap and easy access to the UK and Europe.

The Town

Loughborough is the largest town in Leicestershire, with a population of over 50,000.

“Loughborough’s position, with easy access to major cities, but all the advantages of a small community, make it an ideal place to study and live.”

It has traffic-free shopping areas with popular High Street chain stores, three large supermarkets, and an outdoor market where you can buy everything from economy-priced fruit and vegetables to clothes and household goods.

The town offers a variety of entertainment including a cinema, a theatre, and pubs with live music. Eating places include Thai, Chinese, Indian, Mexican and Australian restaurants, bistros, sandwich shops, and noodle bars – and of course traditional English pub food.

The Surrounding Area

A 30 minute train or car journey takes you to larger cities such as Nottingham, Leicester and Derby where you can visit multiplex cinemas, theatres and concert halls, art galleries and museums – or see league football, rugby and cricket matches.

An hour’s drive will take you to Sherwood Forest (home of the legendary Robin Hood) or to the beautiful Peak District National Park – well-known for walking, caving, potholing and climbing.

Just 30 minutes from campus are attractions such as the National Forest, Donington Park Grand Prix circuit, the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), and numerous National Trust and English Heritage sites.
