Loughborough University’s Melbourne medals smash Manchester target
Loughborough University’s sportsmen and women are putting on a fantastic show at Melbourne’s Commonwealth Games – helping to secure 20 medals for the home nations.
The Loughborough medal count has now over taken what was thought to be a phenomenal and unsurpassable 18 won on home turf at the Manchester Games in 2002.
The most recent Loughborough successes in Melbourne include a second Gold for Caitlin McClatchey in the 400m Freestyle, with Liam Tancock also securing a Gold in the 100m Backstroke. In Badminton Donna Kellogg has taken a team Silver medal and Lisa Dobriskey has claimed a Gold on the track in the 1,500m. The performance of Loughborough’s athletes in the Games is now attracting national attention and acclaim as the sensational results for the home nations unfold. |
