One day Conference on 'Enterprise Activity in Turbulent Times of Crisis and Recession in Britain' - from 23/September/2010 to 24/September/2010

From 23/September/2010 to 24/September/2010. This unique conference aims to bring together economists, bankers, finance experts, organizational psychologists and policymakers to share views on the impact of the recent economic crisis and financial market disruption on enterprise activity in Britain. A small number of papers (9-12) will be selected for presentation at the conference and thus, the competition is expected to be intense. We invite only strong theoretical and empirical papers on areas related to the conference theme. However, we would like to devote a part of the conference to small- and medium-sized lending and firm birth/growth/survival in turbulent times, so submissions in these areas are especially encouraged. Individuals wishing to present a paper should submit an abstract of about 300 words by August 15, 2010, in electronic format (PDF preferred) to the organizer and Programme Chair, Dr George Saridakis (g.saridakis@lboro.ac.uk). Submitted papers should be unpublished. Notification of acceptance will be sent by August 20, 2010. Completed papers must be received by September 19, 2010. If you wish to attend the conference without presenting a paper, please send an email to Ms Champa Patel as soon as possible (and no later than 1 September 2010) since places are limited. The conference is free and includes lunch.

The Role of Universities and other Key Stakeholders in Knowledge Transfer - from 30/September/2010 to 30/September/2010

From 30/September/2010 to 30/September/2010. Focus of the Seminar Series Although significant work exists in incremental innovation, research on radical innovation is not as substantial and there appears to be little synthesis of the research that does exist. Much research is focused on high-tech companies, however, the arts and other creative industries also have much to offer. There are also many links with the basic physical and biological sciences, and with disciplines such as economics, geography, psychology, sociology, and business/management that study the factors that inhibit/facilitate innovation. The research community needs to pool its collective knowledge and open critical discourse around the issue of radical innovation to generate a deeper understanding of current knowledge and to develop a coherent research agenda for the future. The aim of this series is to bring together experts in the area from an international and multidisciplinary perspective to generate a deeper understanding of the issues surrounding Radical Innovation. The expectation is that the interaction and debate generated from this series of events will lead to the development of a coherent, multi-disciplinary and applicable research agenda for the future. http://www.lboro.ac.uk/business/downloads/ESRCSeminar6Loughborough.pdf
