Carbon footprint

Loughborough University's Council has made a strategic commitment to environmental sustainability through its research, teaching, enterprise and operational activity.
During 2010 a number of changes to the Carbon reduction targets were announced, the final target being a reduction of 43% in scope 1 and 2 Emissions by 2020. (Based on a 2005 baseline)
These reduction targets have been detailed in the Carbon Management Plan which can be found here » .The CMP also outlines our progress against these targets and our future plans as well as the basis of the calculation for the Scope 1 and 2 emissions detailed in the table below.
The Scope 3 emissions have been calculated as follows
- Waste Disposal (over Academic, Support Services and Residential space including some tenanted areas and excluding the Students Union)
- Fleet vehicles managed by Facilities management (over Academic and Support Services space Excluding Student accommodation and Student Union)
- Business Travel through the universities two main suppliers and travel claims. (over Academic and Support Services space excluding student accommodation and Student Union)
