Our top 5 tips to make your stationary greener…
- Use the electronic catalogue to select your items – this saves the printing of 1000’s of catalogues every year.
- Buy Green – use the ‘green’ index to choose the green alternative to your usually purchases where possible.
- Make your order stack up! By ordering a large number of items all at once, rather than just a few items every couple of days, you're helping to reduce the number of time the vans need to come to you. Saving fuel!
- Use your purchasing card, rather than via a purchase order this reduced the paper and man hours needed to process your orders.
- Do you have stationery your department no longer needs; why not advertise it on the notice board. Just because your department no longer uses it, it may be of use somewhere else in the university – better than just throwing it away.
How can you reduce your stationery carbon footprint?
Order ‘Green’ stationery –
- The green index on catalogue page 4&5 shows the location of all the green items stocked.
- Green items will be highlighted with a
this shows the % of the items that is recycled or the eco credentials of the product. - When ordering using Openbox, you can select Eco friendly products only using the button on the left hand side.
Order less frequently –
- By increasing your order value and ordering less frequently you can reduce the paperwork produced and number of deliveries and road miles the Whittakers vans need to do.
Order by Purchasing card –
- This reduces the paper trail needed to process the order.
